It aims to enroll more than 15,000 students and faculty members in 2026.    Students enrolled at one university can choose from 337 shared courses offered across the zone. At Beijing Sport University’s Hainan International College, some courses are taught in English by overseas faculty, with practical classes that include cycling and diving.    A different model is taking shape in Yangpu, Danzhou, where Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences is China's first higher education institution independently established by an overseas university. It now offers 11 undergraduate majors covering engineering, management and economics.    The university emphasizes practice-based learning through projects, case studies and work with companies.
